AUTORUN Microsoft? Windows? 95 provides an AUTOPLAY feature that runs when you insert CD-ROMs into the CD-ROM drive. Corel CATALYST supports this feature by launching AUTORUN.EXE after you insert the Corel CATALYST CD. To bypass this feature, press the SHIFT key while inserting CD. Low system resources When Windows 95 is low on resources, SETUP may display the following message: DDE Client Transaction Failed. When this message displays, restart Windows 95 and reinstall Corel CATALYST. Uninstalling If you are using Windows NT or 95, you can uninstall Corel CATALYST using the Uninstall Wizard. Files remaining after UNINSTALL If you perform an uninstall and files still remain, you can use the Windows 95 Explorer or File Manager to delete them. The Uninstall Wizard does not remove user-created files, or any of the following: 1. Shortcuts you have renamed. 2. The Users folder, where your Personal Folder exists. Uninstalling files remaining in memory When uninstalling Corel CATALYST, you may notice that some files cannot be deleted because they are in use by Windows, or another process. To bypass this, restart Windows and use Windows Explorer or File Manager to delete the files. WHICH SKU? SKU 1 Standard Localization Environment (software editing) This copy allows editing of all the standard resources in a 32 bit PE format executable file (.EXE, .DLL, .OCX, etc.). Also included is a text parser which can be customised to the user's needs. We have also included an .RC file parser. SKU 2 Advanced Localization Environment (software editing and leverage) SKU 2 offers all of the functionality of SKU 1, with the added advantage of the Leverage Expert. The Leverage Expert allows the user to extract translations from previous versions of a file and insert them into the new version. It will leverage both translations and co-ordinates. SKU 3 Standard Help Localization Environment (software & help editing) With SKU3 the rich feature set of Corel CATALYST is extended to online help system files. There are powerful editors for .HPJ, .CNT and .RTF files included with this version. SKU 4 Advanced Help Localization Environment (software & help editing and leveraging) This advanced version offers the leveraging capabilities to SKU3, ie for both software and help system files. So if you wish to localise the help system as well as the software files, it is necessary to use SKU 3 or 4. The translators may use SKU3, while the engineers might use SKU4. If you only deal with software files to be localised, then it is possible that SKUs 1 & 2 would suffice. Translators may have enough functionality with SKU1 while engineers may need SKU2. Hardware Key The hardware key you received with this package allows you to run any of the supplied versions during a 30 day period. You will be warned with 5 days to go that the period is coming to an end. This hardware key is designed to be inserted into the parallel port of your machine. It does not effect the operation of your machine, it is designed so that your parallel port may still be used once this key is attached. Should you wish to purchase after the 30 trial period, you can contact us through catalyst@corel.ie or through the order form on our web site at http://catalyst.corel.ie Whether you purchase or not, we need to receive the hardware key back from you. If the key is not received, we will invoice you for the cost of the key. Training Material The Training Material used during training at the Dublin offices has been included on the CD for your own use. This is in the form of an executable file called Training.exe, it can be found in the documents directory on the Corel CATALYST CD. Undocumented Features Due to time pressure, the manual was printed in advance of the product being fully completed. The following topics were omitted from the manual as they were not complete at the time of prining. They will be included for future versions of the manual. Command Line Processing The following features can be run from the command line: Create TTK and insert files Leverage (including Import Translations) Extract Files There is a document called CommandLine.exe which explains how these options operate. This can be found on the Corel CATALSYT CD in the documents directory. Leverage From Glossary File This feature was added to allow updating translations from a glossary file automatically. The Leverage Expert will now accept a text file as the source file for a leverage. This text file is expected to be a tab delimited text file containing Original text in the first column and target text in the second. There is a document called GlossaryLeverage.exe in the documents directory which explains this feature in more detail. Known Issues There is a known issue on NT4 with Service Pack 3 (for NT4) installed. In this situation there are some executable files which do not get extracted properly. A warning appears in this case telling the user to close down Corel CATALYST before that file is fully released by Corel CATALYST. This is due to SP3 and does not occur with any other Service Pack, and does not occur under betas of NT5. In the RTF editor, if a hyperlink is italicised, it can happen that part of the word is truncated. In the RTF editor, bullet points can sometimes be placed incorreclty when status flags are being enabled There is another display issue in the RTF editor that causes table to be displayed incorrectly after an import translation When using the text editor, changing between wysiwyg mode and string mode can set the file's modified flag, which results in a prompt for the file to be saved even if no other changes have been made. General Information .DLL update required Corel CATALYST crashes when you select Options under some Windows 95 machines. This is caused by an out of date COMCTL32.DLL file (size 178K). An updated version (size 371K) is supplied in the REDIST folder on the Corel CATALYST CD-ROM. Windows 95 uses this file constantly, so to copy the new file over the old you need to restart your computer in MS-DOS mode. To do this: 1. Click on the Start menu and choose Shut Down. 2. Select the option "Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode" and click OK. 3. Follow the prompts to save any information in any other open applications. 4. When the screen clears to the MS-DOS prompt, type: copy X:\CATALYST\REDIST\COMCTL32.DLL Y:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ where X:\ is the drive containing the Corel CATALYST CD and Y:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM is your Windows 95 System directory. 5. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your machine.
